Media Advisory: Emergency Preparedness Exercise Happening at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital

April 23, 2024

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Halton Healthcare, in partnership with the Regional Municipality of Halton, Oakville Fire Department, Halton Regional Police Service, Halton Region Paramedic Services and the Town of Oakville, will be participating in a mock Emergency Preparedness Exercise to practice our emergency response to a Code Orange.

The hospital would call a Code Orange in the event of a disaster that may increase the number of patients received in the Emergency Department. Exercises like this enable our hospital staff and physicians to practice, review and improve our Code Orange (disaster) plan, so that we are always ready to care for our community.

Throughout the morning, patients and visitors may notice increased activity at the hospital.

All activity and clinics will operate as normal and the Emergency Department will be open during this exercise. Patient care and wait times will not be affected.

Media Availability: Because of the location and sensitive nature of the activities, media presence will not be permitted at the hospital during the exercise.
