The Asthma Education Centre at Halton Healthcare offers comprehensive assessment, treatment and education for adults and children living with asthma. Patients are referred to the service by their family doctor or specialist or by an emergency room physician.
The Paediatric Asthma Clinic
The Paediatric Asthma Clinic at Halton Healthcare is available to children and adolescents ranging from newborn to 17 years of age who are struggling with asthma. The clinic focuses on the needs of children who continue to be hospitalized, visit the Emergency Department often, miss school days and meet the criteria of having poor asthma control, according to the Canadian Consensus Guidelines.
A Paediatric Respirologist and Asthma Educator will work together to provide patients and caregivers with the tools to safely and effectively manage their asthma, improve quality of life and decrease utilization of emergency medical services.
Referral to the program is required from the Emergency Department, Post Emergency Paediatric Clinic (PEPC) and community Paediatricians.
