Temporary Relocation of Birthing Services at Georgetown Hospital
Birthing services at Georgetown Hospital are temporarily relocated to Milton District Hospital.
What This Means for Patients:
- Outpatient prenatal, postnatal and gynecological care will continue to be provided by Georgetown-based obstetricians in their community offices.
- Elective gynecologic surgeries will still take place at Georgetown Hospital.
- Newborn follow-up care will remain available at Georgetown Hospital through our paediatric program.
- If a patient is in labour or requires urgent or emergency pregnancy care, please go to Milton District Hospital.
Georgetown Hospital is a low volume hospital for births supporting low risk patients expecting one baby. Integrating with Milton District Hospital offers many benefits for patients during this period, including 24/7 obstetrical care, support for higher-risk pregnancies, and an onsite Special Care Nursery (SCN) for babies requiring specialized care.
In the event of an obstetrical or gynecological emergency, please proceed to the nearest emergency department with these services or call 911. Emergency departments with these services include:
