Accreditation Canada is the major national accrediting body for health service organizations across Canada. Accreditation occurs every three or four years, and is the process used by organizations like us to evaluate and improve the quality of services. Accreditation also provides recognition that an organization's services are meeting the national standards for quality and safety.

Accreditation is not one date in time, but a progressive quality improvement journey, during which we are constantly challenging ourselves to raise the bar in everything we do. It is an ongoing cyclical process with many projects and milestones to achieve in preparation for our next Accreditation onsite survey in May, 2018.

In May 2013, Halton Healthcare was awarded accreditation status with Exemplary Status and we were also recognized for two leading best practices.  Our Accreditation 2018 will also take into account all three hospital redevelopment projects which include; the GH expansion which was completed in 2013, the opening of the New Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in 2015, and also the opening of the MDH expansion in 2017.
