Inpatient Services

Adult Inpatient Services: Mental Health Units 1 and 2

These units provide a  24 hour psychiatric assessment, short-term treatment and stabilization for adults who cannot be safely or effectively treated on an outpatient basis. There is also a six-bed Constant Observation Unit (COU) designed and staffed to provide added security to high risk patients. Patients are admitted based on the assessment and recommendation of a Halton Healthcare psychiatrist.

The units are staffed by a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and pharmacists. Treatment modalities include nursing care, group activities, pharmacological treatments and individual therapy

Consult Liaison Psychiatry

Consultation Liaison Psychiatry services are available to inpatients across Halton Healthcare Services. Collaborating closely with the medical interdisciplinary team, the CL service aims to provide timely psychiatric assessment, treatment initiation, short-term follow-up, and support with discharge planning to ensure the safety and stability of patients within the medical environment.
