Staff Vaccination Requirements
Halton Healthcare is committed to the health of our communities and to protecting the safety and well-being of all those who work and receive care at our facilities.
Following the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s Directive #6 to hospitals and other health care organizations, Halton Healthcare introduced a COVID-19 Vaccination Management Policy that requires all eligible staff, professional staff (doctors, dentists & midwives) and volunteers to be fully vaccinated unless provided with an approved exemption. The policy applies to anyone working on the property, working on behalf of Halton Healthcare, or representing Halton Healthcare elsewhere. The policy also applies to any business operating on the property.
Healthcare workers are already required to be vaccinated for a variety of other communicable diseases such as measles, rubella, varicella, tuberculosis etc. when they are hired. New hires must now provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
Our goal, consistent with hospitals across Ontario and the Ontario Hospital Association, is to achieve 100% compliance with this policy.
As a healthcare organization we have a responsibility to provide a safe environment and minimize any risks to those in our facilities. Since the pandemic began in March 2020 our healthcare workers have demonstrated ongoing commitment to the health of our communities and to protecting the safety and wellbeing of all those who work and receive care at our facilities through the ongoing support of all safety protocols that have been used during the pandemic. The COVID-19 vaccine is one of the best defenses against the virus. We are confident that our staff and physicians will continue to support these efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
