Emergency Department Safety During COVID-19 Visitor Information

Visitors

  • General visiting is not permitted in the Emergency Department
  • Emergency Department patients can be accompanied by one (1) designated person
  • Answer the active screening questions honestly and sign in
  • Ensure your “Visitor” sticker is worn at all times and visible
  • The designated person should stay with the patient at all times in the Emergency Department
  • The designated person is discouraged from leaving the department during the patient’s stay and will not to be replaced by another person

Face Coverings/Masks

  • Everyone entering the Emergency Department is required to wear a face covering
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times and should cover your nose and mouth
  • Do not remove your face covering unless asked to do so by a member of the health care team

For Your Safety

  • Clean your hands frequently and avoid touching anything you don’t need to touch
  • Do not eat or drink in the Emergency Department unless approved by the healthcare team so that you don’t need to take off your face covering
  • Use public washrooms, if they are available, instead of patient washrooms

If the patient is admitted, the designated person may accompany the patient to the inpatient unit. They will be asked to leave once the patient has settled into their room.
