Shift and Weekend Premiums

Employees are paid a shift premium of $1.20 per hour for all hours worked where the majority of their scheduled hours fall between 3pm and 7am.

The same $1.20 per hour will be paid as weekend premium for all hours worked between 11:30pm Friday and 11:30pm Sunday

Pension Plan

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan serves Ontario’s hospital and community-based healthcare sector, with more than 610 participating employers. Its membership includes nurses, medical technicians, food services staff, housekeeping staff and many others who provide valued healthcare services.

In total, HOOPP has more than 400,000 active, deferred and retired members.

Employee and Family Assistance Program

The EFAP is a confidential and voluntary support service that helps employees take the first step toward change, finding solutions at work, health and life challenges.

The EFAP can help with short-term professional counselling, financial support services, legal support services, health coaching, nutritional services, and more.

Staff Wellness Program

Our staff wellness program (Kailo) is an innovative and award-winning wellbeing program for the staff, physicians, and volunteers of Halton Healthcare.

Embracing a body, mind, and spirit approach to health, Kailo offers a variety of programs and services for our three hospitals and multiple off-site locations

Onsite Fitness Facilities

Staff and physicians can benefit from on-site gyms at all three of our hospitals. Managed by the Wellness Program, these gyms are normally open 24/7 and are only available to Halton Healthcare staff, physicians and volunteers!

Training

Employee knowledge and support is key to ensuring a safe work environment and contributes to our vision of exemplary patient experiences always.

The Environmental Services Department provides new employees a robust, two week on - job – training. Introductory orientation and supervisor lead in classroom training is mandatory and assists new team members with consistently implementing safe and effective cleaning, infection prevention and control, and occupational health and safety practices.
