New five-year plan focuses on more connected care, new models of care delivery, empowering our people and teams, and advancing applied learning and research to bring leading practices into everyday care

September 17, 2026 (Halton Region, ON) – Halton Healthcare has launched its new 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, setting a bold direction for the future of care across Georgetown, Milton, Oakville, and the surrounding areas.

As Halton’s communities continue to grow and become more diverse, the new plan responds to changing healthcare needs and a rapidly evolving health system. It builds on Halton Healthcare’s strong foundation while looking beyond the walls of the hospital to create a more connected, accessible and coordinated system of care.

“Our communities are changing quickly, and the way we deliver healthcare must evolve with them,” said Melissa Farrell, President & CEO, Halton Healthcare. “This plan is about building on what we do well while thinking differently about what comes next. By working more closely with our partners, embracing innovation and investing in our people, we can make care easier to access and navigate while continuing to deliver on our mission of extraordinary care, close to home.”

Over the next five years, Halton Healthcare will focus on four strategic goals:

  • An integrated continuum of care in collaboration with partners.

  • Reimagined high-quality care delivered both inside and outside hospital walls.

  • An empowered and modernized team to serve patients and families.

  • A dynamic applied learning and research environment that brings leading practices into everyday care.

Together, these priorities will advance Halton Healthcare’s vision of a connected health system delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

The Strategic Plan was shaped by the voices and experiences of patients, families, community members, staff, professional staff, learners, and volunteers. Their input reinforced the importance of even stronger partnerships, innovative models of care, better use of data and technology, investment in healthcare teams, and a continued commitment to quality, safety and equity.

“This plan challenges us to think differently about what’s possible for healthcare in our region,” said Dr. David McConachie, Chief of Staff, Halton Healthcare. “It’s an opportunity to explore how and where we deliver care, embrace new ideas and innovations, and work across the health system to create better experiences and outcomes for the patients and families we serve.”

Guided by its values of Compassion, Accountability, and Respect, Halton Healthcare will work with its people, partners and communities to bring the plan to life over the next five years.
