August 13, 2024
(Milton, ON) – Halton Healthcare is excited to announce the expansion of its orthopaedic joint replacement services with the introduction of total knee replacement surgeries at Milton District Hospital (MDH). This marks the first time this procedure will be available at MDH and reflects our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive care closer to home.
Starting early September, Dr. Jeffrey Hartman, orthopaedic surgeon at MDH, will lead the new total joint replacement program, beginning with knee replacement surgeries. “Offering total joint surgeries for the first time is a major milestone," said Dr. Hartman. “I am grateful for the opportunity to bring this level of care to patients right here in Milton.”
Previously, patients requiring total knee replacements had to travel to hospitals outside Milton to receive this procedure. The launch of total joint surgeries at Milton District Hospital represents a significant advancement in the hospital’s services and reinforces Halton Healthcare's commitment to addressing the evolving needs of the rapidly growing Milton community.
“This is an exciting time for Milton District Hospital and the community,” said Monica Bettazzoni, Interim Chief Operating Officer, Milton District Hospital and Chief Operating Officer, Georgetown Hospital. “With the new services offered at MDH, patients can benefit from high-quality care closer to home.
Looking ahead, Halton Healthcare plans to expand the joint replacement offerings at MDH to include total hip replacements, further strengthening our capacity to deliver high-quality care, locally.
