Dr. Ghori comes to Halton Healthcare from Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He has worked extensively in various healthcare settings in Ireland and the UK and brings 18 years of experience in paediatric medicine and community paediatrics to his new role at GH.
Dr. Ghori joins a team of paediatricians who provide comprehensive paediatric coverage at Georgetown Hospital, including round-the-clock on-call coverage, consultations in the Emergency Department, support for obstetrics, and seeing patients in the hospital’s Post-Emergency Paediatric Clinic (PEPC) six days a week.
“Halton Hills' rapid growth has led to a heightened demand for paediatric services and the community has been without a local, dedicated practicing paediatrician since before the COVID-19 pandemic,” explains Dr. Craig Carson, Associate Chief of Staff at GH. "Dr. Rashid will help reinforce our paediatric coverage at the hospital and provide essential community care for the area.”
While it’s early days, Dr. Ghori has established a local practice in Georgetown at Georgetown Medical Associates, located at 199 Princess Anne Drive (905-873-3000), with a commitment to providing the children and adolescents of Halton Hills consistent, timely and convenient access to the care, closer to home.
“Dr. Ghori also brings invaluable expertise in developmental and behavioural paediatrics, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and child and youth mental health to our hospital and community,” continues Dr. Carson. “This will help address significant gaps in services for children and adolescents in Halton Hills and round out our current paediatric offerings.”
Dr. Ghori's medical journey reflects his dedication to continuous learning and specialization in paediatrics across various countries. Starting with his medical degree from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Pakistan in 2005, Dr. Ghori then moved to Ireland for additional training. There he achieved his Membership of Royal College of Physicians Ireland (MRCPI) in 2007 followed by a five year post membership training. In 2015 he earned his Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) at Hull University Hospital, United Kingdom. Dr. Ghori moved to Canada in 2022 where he completed the Royal College Exam in Canada in 2023 and a Mini Fellowship in Child and Youth Mental Health at the University of Saskatchewan in 2024.
During his final year of medical school, Dr. Ghori’s new born niece was diagnosed with a very rare and fatal muscle disorder.
“As I tried to help care for her I was really moved by the profound challenges faced by my niece and her family,” recounts Dr. Ghori. “This experience ignited my passion for paediatric medicine and solidified my commitment to providing comprehensive child-centred care and dedicated support to families.”
“I believe paediatrics extends well beyond treating childhood illnesses to nurturing holistic child development, encompassing mental, physical, and spiritual growth. My focus is providing compassionate care that addresses the unique needs of each young patients,” explains Dr. Ghori. “I am passionate about children and youth mental health and developmental paediatrics. I want parents to know that if they have concerns about their child’s development, learning challenges or adolescent’s emotional issues, I am here to listen and help.”
Dr. Ghori notes that his move to Georgetown has been particularly meaningful as it allowed him to unite with his wife and their four daughters who have been living in Mississauga since 2017, well before he moved to Canada. “Halton Hills is a charming community and Georgetown Hospital has very warm, friendly and welcoming ambiance with an incredibly dedicated medical team,”notes Dr. Ghori.
"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ghori to both our hospital and community,” says Monica Bettazzoni, Interim Chief Operating Officer, Georgetown Hospital and Milton District Hospital. “His unique expertise and his dedication to our community through his local practice will significantly strengthen our ability to meet the healthcare needs of our growing community, ensuring that specialized care for children and adolescents is easily accessible locally." Patients can be referred to Dr. Ghori by their primary care physician.
