The SSI Prevention rate is the percentage of time our health care team gave patients antibiotics within the appropriate time period before hip or knee joint replacement surgery. Patients, 18 years or older, who are about to undergo primary hip or knee joint replacement surgery are included.
At Halton Healthcare, hip and knee total joint replacement surgeries are only performed at the Oakville Hospital. These surgeries are not done at our Georgetown or Milton Hospitals and therefore, not included in this report.
