Milton Physician Recruitment

Community Profile
Nestled alongside the beautiful Niagara Escarpment, Milton has retained a unique town and country atmosphere. Statistics Canada's 2011 report found that the Town of Milton continues to be the fastest growing community in Canada recording a 56.5 per cent increase in population between 2006 and 2011.

Milton has the ideal home for you and your family when you relocate to this area. You'll find a wide selection of new housing in semi-detached; townhouses; single family; and executive housing. Milton also has a good resale market, lots of historic homes and rural estate subdivisions. The vibrant, rustic downtown offers a wide variety of quality goods and services at competitive prices. There is a large selection of shops, businesses, offices and daycare available within a short driving distance.

The Halton District School Board and the Roman Catholic Separate School Board operate elementary schools in Milton. There are over 20 private schools in the Halton Region. Milton residents are fortunate to have excellent access to high quality post secondary education. Within a one-hour drive, you have access to eight universities and eight technical colleges for formal or continuing education. Sheridan College main campus is located in Oakville and has another large campus in Brampton. Sheridan College provides a variety of education and training opportunities in business, digital media, engineering, arts, social sciences and technical fields.

Milton families take pride in our schools, parks, leisure and recreational facilities and sports organizations for adults and children. Milton offers "sports for all seasons" and offers families leisure opportunities all year round. Milton's parks and conservation areas offer hiking, cycling, canoeing, swimming, camping, rock climbing, golfing, fishing and bird watching in the spring/summer; cross-country skiing, skating on the Mill Pond in the heart of Downtown, moonlight sleigh rides and downhill skiing at Glen Eden in the fall/winter. Milton has a wide variety of golf courses ranging from exclusive private courses to executive size courses and driving ranges. Halton Region has over 25 golf courses, including Glencairn Golf Club and Rattlesnake Point Golf Club. Most of these courses are only a short drive from downtown Milton.

Hospital Expansion
In August 2011 Halton Healthcare Services received approval from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for an expansion at Milton District Hospital. Planning for this much needed expansion is currently underway.

Also in 2011, HHS signed an affiliation agreement with McMaster University that will see medical residents and students receive training at all three of its community hospitals - training the next generation of physicians who will work at the hospital.
