As Chair, I have the privilege of working with a very committed and professional group of fellow board members, all of whom are grounded in the communities we serve and highly skilled. I am grateful for their active involvement, engagement and leadership.
This board has supported Halton Healthcare management, staff, physicians and clinicians and a large contingent of volunteers and, together, we have continued our evolution as a healthcare organization. The board has stewarded us through significant redevelopment planning and execution that will, by 2017, see the completion of a new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, enhancements to Georgetown Hospital as well as significant modernizations to Milton District Hospital.
Just as important as the physical spaces and the need to deliver superlative care, are the mission, vision and values that drive our organization. These attributes are central planks of our revitalized strategic plan, which we are developing. When complete, it will form a blueprint for Halton Healthcare to evolve and refine its focus as a truly patient-centred healthcare provider. I am pleased to note that this focus has been recognized in the many accolades Halton Healthcare has received over the years, including Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada.
As a regional healthcare organization, Halton Healthcare forms part of a network of healthcare providers, stakeholders, policy-makers and partners. I am gratified to see how engaged the board has been with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, our Local Health Integration Network, the Community Care Access Centres and many others, large and small. They have truly seen to it that we are embedded in our communities.
This continues to be an exciting time for Halton Healthcare as we steer a path that enables us to deliver exemplary patient experiences to the communities we serve. I am honoured to join my fellow board members as we provide governance to the organization.
Chair, Halton Healthcare Board of Directors
